Who Are We?

I'm Dave, Dad of a Canadian family living and working internationally since 2020.

We're currently on a long-term contract in the UAE where summer temperatures can easily surpass 45c.

Being from Canada, we're very familiar with Winter. Our own Canadian back yard experiences freezing temperatures every year, and often receives a bit of snow, with the highest amount being one 50cm 'dump' of snow in a 24 hour period.

With this background, I wanted the name of our crypto pool to help reflect one of the most beautiful things we have ever experienced: That cool crisp quiet serenity of a bright snow-covered winter day. It's one of life's experiences that I'd love to share with the world.

With that, the inspiration for this Stake Pool's name started to come together, and eventually stuck:

What is Winter All About ?

From the day Cardano started, its focus has been on building capability and reliability, all while remaining efficient.

The main goals you're looking to achieve with a successful stake pool is 'uptime' and 'network speed when it counts'.

My specific hardware array has been validated on several 'Preview Network' pools, producing up to 20 blocks per day while running 2+ stake pools simultaneously. Currently the servers run an average of about 5% of their maximum load.

This ensures this hardware stack has ample overhead for any hardware and software adjustments that might be required, while maximizing their effectiveness to gather the maximum of available rewards that get allocated to the pool from the Cardano Blockchain.

Location, Location, Location

In order to provide the best utility for a blockchain network, 'geographically close network nodes' are required everywhere transactions occur.

As it happens, WINTR serves as one of just a few pools that connect our region to the rest of the Cardano world. Ironically, there is not much WINTR found in the middle-east ;). That strength allows us to contribute significantly to the decentralization of Cardano, receiving transactions initiated in our vicinity of the world and submit them to the greater blockchain, resulting in quickened transactions throughout this geographical region.

As for 'What does this pool do for the Cardano network?' or 'What plans do you have for big great things?

In the lead-up to Midnight coming online, WINTR is getting set up for MIDNIGHT compatibility. !! (: Please stake with us :) !!

The process ... If you keep ADA in any of the usual 'non-exchange' wallets, you should be able to find us by searching for the pool by our ticker: WINTR. I've tried the staking process to WINTR using wallets like 'Yoroi", 'Eternl', 'Typhon', 'Nufi' and 'Lace' .. all were able to find WINTR easily.

I've set the fees and commission as low as I can within the setup of the blockchain, as I'd like to welcome as many new Stakers as possible.

Personally, I always strive to under-promise, and over-deliver whenever possible. In my view, the long run is always better off if things operate in the most efficient, practical way. Cardano does just that, and so does WINTR. It's built rock-solid, and I'm planning to keep it online "forever'.
